Dr. Brian D. Nordmann is the Director of the Office of Verification and Transparency Technologies in the Bureau of Arms Control, Verification and Compliance at the U.S. Department of State. His Bureau’s overall mission is the control, reduction, and eventual elimination of all weapons of mass destruction worldwide and his Office oversees the development of the technologies necessary to monitor and eliminate such weapons. He has nearly twenty-five years experience at the Department in a number of positions and has worked throughout the U.S., Europe, the Mideast, and North Africa. He has also worked as a radio announcer, a stand-up comedian, an old-timey musician, a horse wrangler, and as the world’s worst door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman.
