Inverting Care Delivery Models On Google Glass

Healthcare is extremely fragmented. There are over 30 medical disciplines, and dozens of job classes. Each person knows their domain area of expertise, but these days, it's rare that any one person can diagnose and treat at any given point in time. Medicine is increasingly team based; people have to work together.
Glass is the first mass-produced, elegant, consumer-grade, economically viable hardware platform that will power the concept of remote eyeballs in medicine. Communications technologies in medicine are proliferating to support team based care: Vocera, DocBookMD, etc. Glass is the ultimate communications platform because it supports live, first-person video.
At a macro level, mid levels (nurses, physician's assistants) are diagnosing and treating more each year. Glass will allow doctors to monitor, guide, and assist mid levels. Healthcare will evolve into a hub and spoke model, where doctors are the hubs, and mid levels are the spokes. Glass will be the connective glue.
