Building the Bridge to Equality with Allies

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

This panel seeks to change the conversation from “I don’t know how to increase diversity in my community” by providing practical tools to help attendees create change and become allies.
Every year thousands of people experience harassment at school or work because they don't fit into a neat, little box of being White, straight and male. Up to 43 percent of gay people have experienced some form of discrimination or harassment in the workplace and numbers are similar for Blacks, Latinos and women.
In the aftermath of the Treyvon Martin case, many felt upset, powerless and angry. If we stand by and don’t demand justice and equality for everyone, we become silent partners to the problem.
In this session you will learn how you can make a difference in your community, school and workplace through positive and active leadership as an ally.
