Cities & Startups: A Marketing Match

Cities across the country are focusing on adopting innovative solutions to address everyday problems. Startups that can help cities become more progressive and efficient should consider working with city agencies. That’s what Nextdoor, the private social network for neighborhoods, does through their city program.
Nextdoor quickly realized that members wanted to use the platform to connect with their cities and receive important updates. Integrating cities into Nextdoor made sense–it adds value for members and is useful for cities.
The partnerships proved to be an effective way to generate positive press for Nextdoor and the city, drive membership, and give cities a free tool to connect to residents. City officials and residents also become Nextdoor advocates. Successful city partnerships influence other cities to adopt the platform–nearly 200 cities have partnered with Nextdoor. This duo will discuss why it makes sense for startups to engage with cities and how to best approach them.
