Geordi La Forge Today? Video/Audio In Your Face

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Star Trek's Geordi La Forge peaked our imagination on what head mounted computing might be. That Star Trek future is here today with the development of the virtual retinal display - a unique system that beams high resolution images to your retina. The result is high resolution imagery with no pixels, sub-12 millisecond latency and high fill factors. This can be combined with high fidelity audio with passive and active noise cancellation. The technology can be combined with wireless capabilities, galvanic sensors, pulse/ox sensors, pupil monitors, gyros, 9-way head tracking that can provide physiological and movement data to the game developer or film maker. The session's goal is to explore the edges of this new display and compute platform. The session is highly interactive and creative. We want to explore how fast we can bring Geordi La Forge into today's reality. The session also intends to discuss the implications of having biological and physiological "published".
