Films That Don't Change The World

The spectre of 'making a difference' looms large over documentary filmmakers, whose continued relevance is increasingly measured in the social and political change their films stimulate their audience members to embark upon.
Stop eating that thing, buy that other thing instead, donate some money to that cause, have a cry at the end of the film about the injustice inflicted on an unfortunate person.
But what if your film seeks to change nothing and you'd rather shirk all social responsibility? Or what if you'd rather let an audience do their own thing with your film rather than be led by the hand? And why do documentary makers have to carry the can for social responsibility in films when fiction filmmakers can hedonistically give whatever message they want?
This clip-based melancholy presentation celebrates films that are about nothing, advocate for nothing, demand no action from you, and have no impact. Let's raise a glass to films that don't change the world.
