Balancer began in early 2012 in the city of Boston, MA. Felipe Piedrahita (Guitar), Gabriela Jimeno (Drums), and Francisco Valentin (Keys, Vox) brought together their influences, visions, and energy to create a sound influenced by electronic music (and electronics), psychedelic music, pop, alternative rock, and lots of coffee. The music drew inspiration from a lot of things including the native countries of the members (Colombia and Puerto Rico), exploration of consciousness, balance, an awakened social consciousness, and among other things, more coffee. WIth a strong sense of exploration and experimentation, and a penchant for pensive lyrics coupled with catchy melodies, they set out to make music together for as long as they could. Their self-proposed purpose is to make music that makes people feel alive and connected, connected with themselves and connected with each other.

Their debut EP “House in the Clouds” was released on September 2012, containing six original songs. Since the very beginning they have worked very closely with producer Garrett Reynolds of “AmatiSounds”, who has produced and engineered the entirety of the band's work, in a way becoming their "fourth member". In May, 2013 they released their second EP, "Transitions", a transition between their older sound and what was to come. In the Summer of 2013, after a successful Kickstarter campaign, they traveled to Washington state to record their debut LP in the "Amati Tracking Room", a studio built by Reynolds with Balancer's sound in mind. Their debut LP, titled "Tipsoo", will be released February 22, 2014. They currently reside in New York City, playing live shows that combine floating lights and sonic textures, striving to take audiences out of their heads and into a place where we all celebrate that we are alive together.
